The Chicago Bulls have been without center Nic Claxton because of a hamstring injury he sustained in the preseason. However, it may seem like he will finally get his chance to suit up. On Friday, Claxton joined the team in practice in Chicago. Afterward, he expressed sincere optimism about returning to the floor for Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers, per K.C. Johnson of The Chicago Sports Network. Claxton also said he prioritizes his health and well-being to avoid injury at all costs. So his injury in practice was uncanny. However, he is determined to go all out. “I feel great,” Claxton said. “I’m excited to get back… I take a lot of pride in not being injured, being available. Jalen Smith has been filling in for Claxton at center. However, Smith has battled injuries recently. On Wednesday, Smith  left the game with a hand injury against the New York Knicks. Smith expects to return on Sunday. Smith also hit the floor with Claxton during practice on Friday. In June, Claxton was part of a 3-way trade with the Brooklyn Nets and Minnesota Timberwolves that brought him to Chicago. He brings athleticism, size, and rim protection to a role that the Bulls have struggled to hold onto in recent years. On Sunday, the Bulls will play the Philadelphia 76ers at 2:30 pm CST/3:30 pm EST.
