Penn State trying to flip another 2027 QB

In a crazy week of QB recruitment drama, Penn State is doing their best to find a potential solution for 2027. In their 20th-ranked class, QB is the only position that is not represented, and you have to feel they would need one to be competitive next year. Now, after failing to flip a Missouri commit, they are now trying to flip a three-star QB who has committed to a familiar recruiting foe. Ben Rolapp announced on Wednesday that he received an offer from Penn State, amongst many other schools. The only problem? Much like with Braylen Warren , the Missouri commit who Penn State tried to flip, he is already committed to another school. That program? Boston College, which put Penn State in this predicament in the first place. Will Wood, another 2027 QB, flipped from Penn State to Boston College due to his ties with the coaching staff. While it won't impact what will happen with Rolapp, it is still something Penn State fans aren't too fond in remembering. In terms of Rolapp, he may not be the best option left for the Nittany Lions , but it feels like they are scrambling to make amends. With a 2028 commit at the position already on board, their 2027 starter will most likely be a bridge option, but also viewed as a developmental project. Rolapp fits that profile perfectly. In his junior season, he threw for 2,268 yards and 20 touchdowns for the Brunswick School in Connecticut. Now, it may be on his shoulders to get the Nittany Lions through 2027 should he decide to sign with them. Should Penn State fail to flip him as well, their 2027 starter may just be Alex Manske , an Iowa State transfer who has only made six appearances in his career and attempted 13 passes. Still, as a recruit, he had slightly more pedigree than Rolapp has now, as a four-star recruit. If anything, there could be a QB battle. But for Penn State fans, they're most likely waiting for when James Armstrong comes to Happy Valley two years from now. Follow Nittany Lions Wire on X and Facebook .
