Ravens updated QB depth chart after Jacoby Brissett trade
Yahoo Sports
The Baltimore Ravens have a new starting quarterback, and the team's depth chart has changed again after officially acquiring Jacoby Brissett from the Arizona Cardinals .
Baltimore finalized the trade Friday, receiving Brissett and a 2027 fifth-round draft pick in exchange for a 2027 fourth-round selection and a 2028 seventh-round pick. The Ravens subsequently waived quarterback Austin Reed, who served as Joe Fagnano's backup during Thursday night's 33-10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars .
Brissett is expected to become Baltimore's fourth different starting quarterback in four consecutive games when the Ravens host the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday, Nov. 16.
Ravens updated quarterback depth chart
Here's how Baltimore's quarterback depth chart projects following the Brissett trade and Reed's release:
Jacoby Brissett — QB1: Expected starter against the Chargers.
Joe Fagnano — QB2: Undrafted rookie who started Thursday against Jacksonville.
Kedon Slovis — QB3: Acquired from Green Bay's practice squad earlier this week.
Lamar Jackson — Injured reserve: Recovering from a right thumb injury that required surgery.
Tyler Huntley — Injured reserve: Dealing with a toe injury reportedly expected to end his season.
The backup order behind Brissett is projected and has not been formally announced by Minter.
Jacoby Brissett takes over as Ravens starter
Brissett immediately becomes Baltimore's most experienced available quarterback, bringing 73 career starts over 11 NFL seasons. The 33-year-old started Arizona's first eight games this season, completing 63.3% of his passes for 1,719 yards, 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions before losing his starting job.
His experience should provide stability for an offense that has struggled to produce consistently without Jackson.
Baltimore has been held below 14 points in four consecutive games for the first time in franchise history, and Thursday's loss illustrated the limitations of its inexperienced quarterback room. Brissett will have more than a week to become familiar with Doyle's offense and establish timing with Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman and Mark Andrews.
Joe Fagnano and Kedon Slovis move down the depth chart
Fagnano started Thursday against Jacksonville but struggled throughout the 33-10 defeat, completing 10 of 18 passes for 60 yards and two interceptions. He finished with a 22.7 passer rating as Baltimore managed just 55 net passing yards.
The former UConn quarterback remains an option behind Brissett, though the coaching staff must decide whether his familiarity with the offense gives him an edge over Slovis. Baltimore signed Slovis from Green Bay's practice squad Nov. 3, adding another quarterback after Jackson and Huntley suffered injuries against Buffalo.
Reed's departure further clarifies the quarterback rotation. He was promoted from the practice squad Thursday and served as Fagnano's backup against Jacksonville but did not play.
When could Lamar Jackson return?
Jackson and Huntley were placed on injured reserve Thursday, making both quarterbacks ineligible to return for at least four games. Jackson's recovery timeline remains uncertain following his thumb injury. Baltimore has not ruled out a potential return later this season, although there is no guarantee the two-time NFL MVP will play again in 2026.
Huntley's injury is reportedly season-ending, leaving Brissett, Fagnano and Slovis as Baltimore's available quarterbacks.
The Ravens enter Week 10 at 4-5, riding a four-game losing streak. Brissett's arrival won't automatically fix an inconsistent offensive line or Baltimore's problems sustaining drives, but it gives the organization a veteran quarterback who can run the offense as the team tries to keep its playoff hopes alive.
