Kenneth Walker’s ‘classless’ gesture called out after Chiefs suffer blowout to Seahawks
The Kansas City Chiefs are no longer undefeated after being utterly dominated by the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night Football. The 20-3 loss marked the first time in the Patrick Mahomes era that the Chiefs failed to reach the end zone. The Seahawks completely shut down their former running back, reigning Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III , who finished with just 14 carries for 36 yards. It was by far his worst performance in a Kansas City uniform, but it was his actions after the game that grabbed attention. Walker skipped handshakes with Seahawks It’s customary after NFL games that players greet each other on the field, no matter the result. However, ESPN’s cameras appeared to capture Walker heading towards the lockeroom immediately after the game was over. “Kenneth Walker runs off the field without shaking hands with any of his former teammates or Mike MacDonald,” KREM2’s Andrew Quinn confirmed. Fans took to social media to express their opinion on Walker’s actions, and shared very differing opinions. “That was the single biggest mistake he made tonight. Classy move would have been to stick around, shake hands & let the fans, former teammates & staff congratulate him on his great start this season,” one Seahawks fan noted. “Why would he stick around for the team that paid everyone BUT the MVP of the Super Bowl ? F*** that s*** son,” a Chiefs fan added. “Not mad, K9 was a solid Seahawk and gets nothing but love in the PNW,” a third said. “He was your finals mvp big reason why Seahawks went to the superbowl n got a chip n they didn’t want to pay him I would cut ties too if I got you a ring n got nothing in return,” a fourth commented. Mike Macdonald delivers on pre-game promise The Minnesota Vikings remain the only undefeated team in the NFL after the Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers lost on Sunday. Walker, in his first season of a three-year deal with Kansas City , had been unstoppable thus far, rushing for 665 yards with six touchdowns, and a further 95 yards and two touchdowns through the air. Ahead of their matchup, Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald emphasised the respect he still has for the running back and made a statement on how they would win the matchup. “I respect the heck out of him . Happy for him. Obviously, we have to do a great job of stopping him this week,” Macdonald said. “I love Ken. I thoroughly enjoyed him being on our football team. “We’ve had some great one-on-one conversations; I feel like we have a great relationship. “I think there are mixed emotions because, on one hand, you’re happy for him, but at the same time, we’re trying to figure out ways to stop this guy too, because he’s playing at a really high level.” Sign up for talkSPORT Stateside , the YouTube channel dedicated to passionate US Sports fans.
