Micah Parsons update: Packers intend to start practicing him this week

GREEN BAY – Micah Parsons ’ return to the football field may be only days away.
The Green Bay Packers ’ All-Pro pass rusher intends to start practicing this week, coach Matt Lafleur said. Parsons was with trainers when the team held a walkthrough Nov. 2, but the team is hopeful his first reps since last season’s torn ACL will happen this week.
“That would be the intention,” LaFleur said. “It’s going to be a process trying to get him back. It’s going to be dependent on the next couple days, but we’re hopeful that he’ll be able to get out there sometime this week.”
Which day Parsons first practices this week, if indeed the Packers go through with their plan, could get interesting. Once Parsons returns to the field, his 21-day window to return off the physically-unable-to-perform list will open. Parsons already has missed the first eight games this season on the PUP list.
Parsons can return anytime within those 21 days, but no later. If his first practice is Nov. 4, Parsons likely would debut this season no later than the Packers ' trip to the Los Angeles Rams on the eve before Thanksgiving, exactly 21 days later. If Parsons doesn't practice until later this week, it opens the possibility his first game won't come until Dec. 6 at the New Orleans Saints.
“It’s pretty fluid in terms of how he responds and just the progress he’s going to hopefully continue to make leading up to when he’s available,” LaFleur said, before adding. “If I had to be on it, it’s going to be more toward the longer end than the shorter end.”
