Commanders rule two receivers out for Week 9 vs Rams

Yahoo Sports
The Washington Commanders will be down two more wide receivers for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams . On Friday, Washington ruled out wide receivers Treylon Burks and Dyami Brown. Burks did not practice all week after suffering a foot injury in Sunday’s win over the Philadelphia Eagles . The 6-foot-2, 225-pound Burks stepped up after Terry McLaurin’s season-ending injury, catching seven passes for 147 yards over the last two games. Brown, who rejoined the Commanders this season after one year with Jacksonville, injured his calf in Thursday’s practice. In his weekly appearance on the “ Sports Junkies ” on Friday, general manager Adam Peters said things didn’t “look great” for Brown. While Brown hasn’t been heavily involved in Washington’s passing game this season, he’s an integral part of the offense because he can win deep and is also the Commanders’ best blocking wide receiver. With Burks and Brown out for Sunday, Washington is now without four of the seven receivers who made the 53-man roster out of training camp: McLaurin (knee), Jaylin Lane (ankle), Brown (calf) and Burks (foot). While we don’t know how severe Brown’s injury is, it sounds like the Commanders are expecting the worst. If he’s out for the rest of the season, that would mean Burks is the only one coming back. These injuries leave only Stefon Diggs, Antonio Williams, Luke McCaffrey and Van Jefferson as Washington’s receivers on the 53-man roster. Rookie Jaden Bradley could be elevated for Sunday’s game against the Rams.
