Todd Monken discusses something that took over Browns social media
Yahoo Sports
The Cleveland Browns have a big issue with their run game ; right now, it is holding them back, and Todd Monken acknowledged this when talking about the team allowing eight sacks this week against the New York Jets. There has been a debate sparked on social media talking about the team relying too much on being in the shotgun as a reason the run game is a problem and that the team needs to be under center more.
Todd Monken talked about needing to be able to play from both the shotgun and under center if you want to be successful in the NFL.
"We're certainly capable of pivoting what we feel like is best for us moving forward...playing Tampa four weeks ago, and we're under center, and they're pressuring us, and then we got in the gun, and we had some success, and we were running it, and we were throwing it, we were getting the ball out of his hands. And each week you're pivoting."
Right now, the offensive line is struggling to get a push, and that is a problem whether they are under center or not, so it isn't a magic fix like some are suggesting. The team not having a blocking tight end is a massive issue, making the scheme and personnel a bit of a mismatch and something this coaching staff must adjust if they want to fix.
