The Philadelphia 76ers have proved through their first two games that they are going to be very tough to beat, taking down the New York Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers . The starting five Philadelphia possesses is unlike any other in the league. On Thursday night, the 76ers accomplished something they had never done in franchise history: overcoming a 29-point deficit. “On a team laden with stars, Maxey was the conductor of this raucous Philadelphia crowd, which followed his lead all night as the Sixers roared back to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 114-106. The 29-point comeback was the Cavaliers' largest blown lead and the Sixers' largest comeback in the play-by-play era. It was also the largest comeback of James' 24-year career,” ESPN’s Kris Rhim wrote. Throughout all of this, the 76ers are being very careful with their stars, requiring them to follow strict plans to manage their workloads. LeBron James and Joel Embiid have dealt with frequent injuries over the past couple of seasons, so Philadelphia has placed them on minutes restrictions to start the year. “My understanding is Lebron James, Joel Embiid -  the hope is within the first few weeks of the season limit them to around 30 minutes a game,” ESPN’s Shams Charania said. This also factors into the back-to-back games that teams will play throughout the season. Embiid has already made it clear that he will only play against either the Detroit Pistons or Milwaukee Bucks during the 76ers' back-to-back this weekend. “I’m not playing both games. I’m playing in 1 of them,” Embiid said. James is expected to follow a similar approach, as the team will monitor his health as well. However, it remains unclear which game each player will miss. That is where the coaching staff's planning becomes especially important. It is possible that they will miss separate games, as James could be needed to play center if Embiid sits because of Philadelphia's lack of depth at the position. That approach would make sense, but an answer should be coming soon.
