After a strong 6-0 start, Notre Dame took its first hit against BYU last weekend. Now on a bye, the Fighting Irish will have extra time to recover and practice. Last week's primetime matchup against the Cougars had major implications for Notre Dame's title aspirations, especially given the program's playoff controversies in recent years. Though it's not over for the Fighting Irish, the team's national ranking did take a hit — they are now sitting in the No. 4 slot. Luckily, the Fighting Irish do not have a game scheduled for Week 8. Marcus Freeman and his team will be sure to utilize this bye to rest, recover and improve for the back half of their schedule.
