Seahawks’ fireworks show nearly takes out Black Hawk during Army flyby

The Chicago Bears beat the Seattle Seahawks , 34-17, on Monday Night Football to wrap up Week 8 of the NFL season. The Bears offense looked good and the defense was impressive as defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons made an immediate impact . The Seahawks were held to just three yards a play and the only fireworks the home team provided nearly took out a helicopter. Four US Army Black Hawk helicopters did a flyby over the stadium following the national anthem right before the game. The first three helicopters, flying in formation, cleared the stadium without issue. The last helicopter was still on the edge of Lumen Field when the pyrotechnics went off. But video from multiple angles makes it look really, really close. According to a local blog, the helicopters did flyover practice a week ago . They must not have worked on the timing of the fireworks display that day. Military flyovers seem to be more and more of a regular occurrence these days, whether you’re at “ College GameDay ” or hanging out on Kid Rock’s patio . It was only a matter of time before an unnecessary fireworks display got involved and there was nearly an aviation disaster during an even more unnecessary military flyby. It’s hard to get more American than this. The military flyby is just a regular part of attending a live sporting event these days. It used to be reserved for stuff like the Super Bowl, but we’ve got all these fancy aircrafts and need to fly them somewhere. Maybe just make sure no one is shooting fireworks at them in the future. — Enjoy free coverage of the top news & trending stories with The Big Lead Newsletter —
