Chiefs-Jets Inactives: Chiefs down both first-round picks

The Kansas City Chiefs have released their list of inactive players for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets . Tackle Diego Pounds, cornerback Mansoor Delane, fullback Ben VanSumeren and defensive end Jack Pyburn and defensive tackle Peter Woods will not dress. Rookie Garrett Nussmeir has been designated as the third quarterback and is eligible to enter the game should starter Patrick Mahomes and backup Justin Fields become unavailable. Delane (shoulder) and Woods (neck) had already been ruled out for the contest on Friday’s final injury report . The Chiefs will play on Sunday down both of their first-round rookies. Return man Nikko Remigio (hip) was listed as questionable to play, but he is active on Sunday. On Saturday, Kansas City elevated practice squad defensive tackle Marcus Harris to the active roster. As an elevated player, he will automatically be returned to the team’s practice squad after the game. The Chiefs have now used all three permitted elevations on Harris, meaning he must be added to the active roster if he is needed again before elevations reset for the postseason. Harris is active for the contest. Defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott was listed as out after being designated to return last week as he works his way back from last season’s ACL tear. He remains on the Chiefs’ Physically-Unable-to-Perform (PUP) list and is not listed with the inactives. The Jets have also released their list of inactives. Wide receivers Garrett Wilson and Tim Patrick, linebacker Trevin Wallace, defensive end Joseph Ossai, cornerback Nahshon Wright, and offensive linemen Kohl Levao and Blake Freeland will not play. Wilson (concussion) and Wallace (groin) had already been ruled out on Friday. While Ossai (ankle) and Wright (back) had initially been ruled questionable , the Jets updated their injury report before departing to Kansas City on Saturday and downgraded the duo to out . NFL Network ’s Ian Rapoport had also reported former Kansas State safety VJ Payne (knee) as being downgraded to out , but Payne appears to be active for Sunday. The Jets elevated practice tackle Brant Banks and linebacker Troy Reeder for the matchup. Both are active for the game.
