Dolphins veteran hints that he's nearing retirement

Yahoo Sports
The Miami Dolphins have started their 2026 campaign with a 1-6 record through eight weeks, and with their current rebuild, they should consider selling at the upcoming trade deadline to get more picks in 2027 and beyond. Among the veterans whom the Dolphins could part with is right tackle Austin Jackson. The 2020 first-round pick has appeared in 69 games and started 67 for Miami over his seven seasons in the league. Speaking with the Palm Beach Post's Joe Schad , Jackson revealed his desired outcome at the deadline as well as some as a possible look into his future. “My preference is to be with whoever wants me," Jackson said. "Yeah, that's how I'm feeling towards the end of my career.” Jackson is in the final year of his deal, and it seems unlikely that Miami's new regime will look to extend him in the offseason, so if they're looking to capitalize on his value, a trade makes sense. It's no surprise that Jackson just wants to be appreciated somewhere because he's moved around Miami's offensive line a lot over his career. It's also interesting to hear Jackson hint that he's nearing the end of his career. He's missed a lot of time over recent years, but he's only 27 years old. He could probably play for several years if he's willing to fight for a starting role or be a backup.
