Hugh Keevins – Scottish football’s craftiest attention seeker
Yahoo Sports

It’s well known that Scottish hack Hugh Keevins has a bee in his bonnet when it comes to reporting impartiality on anything to do with Celtic Football Club, but is there a reason for his regular poisonous tirades against the club, or is at all merely an act for the public?
Hugh Keevins
Auld Shug has been upping the ante recently, by declaring that the Rangers will win the title by a ‘canter’ even with Celtic currently sitting at the top of the standings, and just this weekend he’s declared that the balance of power in Scottish football is shifting towards the blue half of Glasgow.
How he can say the ‘balance of power is shifting’ when the side he eludes to be in the driving seat has won just three major honours in its existence is beyond me.
It’s not the first and certainly not the last time that the veteran hack will have got his prophecies spectacularly wrong.
Who can forget his bold prediction last seasons when he declared that “Celtic have zero per cent chance of winning the Premiership title – and I base that opinion on one, simple observation, They’re not that good.”

Throughout the years he’s got nearly all of his predictions spectacularly wrong, whether that’s on his platform on radio or in print. Older readers will remember Keevins being a half decent sports writer earlier in his career before he adopted the shock jock mantle, playing the blue-nose audience.
The overwhelming majority of those predictions are based against the most successful team in Scottish footballing history. With the veteran hack regularly talking up the Ibrox club, whilst putting down anything Celtic.
If Shug were to believe his own drivel then Celtic would be struggling to earn a place in the top six of Scottish football, and not sitting as the most successful footballing side in the country’s history.

Remember his A.N.G.E. stands for Absolutely Not Good Enough abomination?
Or his gushing early praise of the former Rangers boss Philippe Clement, who Shug was bold enough to compare to Ange Postecoglou after the Belgian’s first four games in charge.
During last seasons January transfer window he boldly declare d: “Skov Olson is THE marquee signing of the January window – Celtic should pay attention. An outstanding Danish international in the mould of that other great Dane…”
These are just an example of Shug’s spectacular predictions and inane ramblings, there’s plenty more to be had, but I’d be here all day if I had to produce more.
The fact of the matter is that Shug is either a rambling fool or merely doing it for the publicity. If I was forced to guess I’d say it’s a combination of both, but it maintains his relevance, keeps the radio money flowing into his bank account and keeps him safe from any blue nose backlash.
What a way for a ‘Celtic man’ to behave. He’s a Celtic man when it suits…
