Leverkusen name Hofmann to Europa League squad

Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Jonas Hofmann has been added to the team's Europa League squad, the Bundesliga club said on Instagram on Tuesday. Hofmann replaces Martin Terrier, who's injured and expected to be sidelined until December. At the start of the season, Leverkusen coach Carles Martinez didn't name Hofmann to the 23-man Europa League squad. Victor Boniface also wasn't included. According to UEFA regulations, in the event of a long-term injury or illness, a player can be nominated as a replacement up to the sixth matchday of the league phase. Leverkusen face OFI Crete on Thursday and Hofmann will be available for the match. Boniface, meanwhile, remains unlisted for the competition.
