Top 2027 recruit Sydney Savoury commits to UConn
Top 2027 recruit  Sydney Savoury has committed to UConn . The 5-11 guard from Belleville (MI) chose the Huskies over North Carolina, Texas, USC, Notre Dame and UCLA. “It’s been awesome,” she previously told Rivals. “They just offered maybe about a month ago, but even then, I can tell that they’re really upping their game in terms of my recruiting process. I’ve talked to obviously Coach Geno [Auriemma] and then Coach [Chris] Dailey . They’ve been honestly my two main recruiters and they’ve just been really nice to talk to. I think the biggest thing about Geno is he’s so down to earth and it’s really easy to have a conversation with him and Coach Dailey. One of the main reasons why I would love to go down there and take a visit is because they’re a winning program. I know that he’s going to coach me hard and he’s sent so many players to the WNBA. That’s obviously my goal down the line, so I think just obviously with the coaching and the winning pedigree, that would be awesome.” There were several important factors for Savoury. “The vibe that I get from the university itself,” Savoury said. “There’s the saying of, ‘when you know, you know,’ and I’m hoping that when I get on these official visits, I’ll be able to see everything from the academics, which are important to me, to obviously basketball. Also, the skill development piece. I want to be developed at the highest level. I want to go to a place that has produced WNBA players, but also has a plan for me.” UConn is getting an strong guard in Savoury. “I describe myself as a three-level scorer,” Savoury said. “I can get downhill, I can pull up, and I can also hit the three. I think that it opens up the whole floor and allows my game to just kind of pick apart the defense in any way.”
