Panthers help Buccaneers accomplish something no NFL team had since 1958

Yahoo Sports
It doesn't get much worse than the 43-13 defeat the Carolina Panthers suffered on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers . Offensively, quarterback Bryce Young had his worst game of the season, turning the ball over three times as he collapsed behind the Panthers' atrocious (and atrociously expensive) offensive line. On special teams, the Panthers screwed up royally more than once—including what may have been one of the worst muffed punts you'll ever see by wideout David Moore and a blocked extra point that turned into a two-point return for Tampa. Still, the defensive effort was the worst part. In fact, the Panthers allowed quarterback Baker Mayfield and the Bucs to do something that no NFL team had done since the Eisenhower administration. Mayfield threw just 11 passes in the blowout win, totaling just 64 passing yards. That marks the first time since 1958 that a team won a road game by 30 or more points with 65 or fewer passing yards. Instead, it was Tampa's run game that did practically all of the damage. Led by running backs Bucky Irving and Kenny Gainwell, the Bucs ran the ball down Carolina's throat to the tune of 258 yards and three touchdowns at 5.3 yards per attempt. This marks the 12th time since Ejiro Evero was hired that his defense has allowed at least 200 rushing yards. Follow  @ThePanthersWire  on Twitter/X for more Panthers content.
