Sharks Locker Room: Dickinson Talks Tension, Warsofsky Believes “Our Game’s Coming”
Yahoo Sports

The San Jose Sharks still can’t scare up enough offense.
It was one of the Sharks’ better defensive efforts in weeks, but they still lost 2-1 to the Calgary Flames. San Jose has lost four of five, with no obvious answers on the horizon.
Sam Dickinson scored the lone goal.
Head coach Ryan Warsofsky believes this loss was a step in the right direction, Nolan Allan acknowledged that this was not one of his better games, Dickinson gave an interesting quote about the team defense versus offense, and Mason Marchment spoke on Michael Misa ’s recent surge.
A deeper game story with micro-stats from Stathletes and game action clips, Sharks Insight, will be published soon.
Ryan Warsofsky
Warsofsky, on how to create more offense from the better defensive effort:
There are opportunities for us to get our D up the ice a little bit more. Get some more support off the rush. And opportunities to get to the net a little bit more in the offensive zone.
Warsofsky, on Dmitry Orlov ’s decision to chase the puck and leave William Stromgren alone in front of the net for the game-winner:
There’s a guy [in Adam Klapka] falling down, and we go try to cover him. Just hold the dangerous ice. We’ve talked a lot about that.
We made the same mistake the game before. So that’s something we got to work on and get better at.
Warsofsky, on what Michael Misa did well tonight:
Puck support when pucks are on the walls. That was really good tonight.
Thought it was his best game of the year.
Warsofsky, on if the San Jose Sharks did enough to win tonight:
Yeah, I thought we did a lot of the right things and we have to just focus on our process and our results will take care of itself. I thought we improved from last game in the areas that we needed to improve in.
There’s still levels we need to get to, but I think it was a step in the right direction. I think there was a chance for us to come back in that hockey game. We outchanced them. We did some good things, but we came up a little short.
Warsofsky, on if there’s enough positivity in the locker room, despite the obvious frustration:
I truly do. You can feel it on the bench and in the dressing room, I think our game’s coming. I do believe in that. Of course, we’re frustrated. We all are. But this is where we’re at. This is what we get to work with. We got to get moving on. If we would have won or lost, 12:01, you turn the page.
Warsofsky, on if that second period was the most representative of the identity that the San Jose Sharks want to play with:
It was probably one of our most solid games of the year. And I think there’s more for us to get to. Put it that way.
Nolan Allan
Allan, on if the San Jose Sharks were communicating on the ice better:
I thought we were communicating better. We were supporting each other better on our breakouts, playing a little bit more connected, and we were able to get the puck out of the zone a bit easier.
Sam Dickinson
Dickinson, on how the San Jose Sharks defended and attacked tonight:
We were playing pretty well into our structure. I don’t think there was too much chasing around or anything like that. Things go wrong in the D-zone when you start just scrambling and trying to do too much or whatever.
There’s obviously some frustration and some tension in the room. I think, at times, you just got to relax and go out there and play hockey. You see that when we started to play our best, especially in the third period today when we needed that offense, you saw a lot of our skill come out. When we have the puck, we’re a pretty dangerous team. Being smart with the puck. Not trying to do too much and just trust our instincts.
Mason Marchment
Marchment, on where Misa has improved most:
Yeah, zone entries. D-zone. Being the second quick in the D-zone, I think he’s doing a great job with that. Draws, he’s winning a lot of draws, but yeah, his speed through the middle, it’s hard to match. He’s a hell of a skater, and once he gets the puck with speed, he’s a hard guy to stop.
Marchment, if the San Jose Sharks are still trying to find their identity:
No, I think we know what we got to do. It’s just getting to what we have to do. There was definitely sprinkles of shifts throughout the whole game, we’re playing great hockey, and one mistake, turns the other way for us.
