Travis Kelce’s ankle injury raises fresh concerns ahead of Chiefs-Broncos clash
Yahoo Sports

Travis Kelce has been listed as limited in practice with an ankle injury, raising fresh concerns for the Kansas City Chiefs ahead of their divisional clash with the Denver Broncos.
The 37-year-old tight end was a full participant in his first practice session before being restricted the following day. Kansas City will now be monitoring his condition ahead of a crucial AFC West meeting.
Kelce previously injured his ankle during the Chiefs’ 22-6 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. Despite limping off the field for treatment, he returned to finish the game with four catches for 53 yards.

Kelce played through the injury against the Seattle Seahawks but could not prevent Kansas City’s first defeat of the season, a 20-3 loss.
He recorded four receptions for 44 yards in Seattle, although the game was still significant for the veteran. Kelce surpassed Hall of Famers Marvin Harrison and Cris Carter to move into fifth place on the NFL’s all-time receptions list.
The tight end also moved ahead of Tony Gonzalez for the most combined receiving yards by a tight end across the regular season and playoffs.
Kelce’s injury initially appeared manageable. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said he had “tweaked his ankle”, while former NFL team doctor David Chao assessed the play and described it as a mild high eversion sprain.
However, his return to full practice participation proved short-lived, leaving his availability a talking point ahead of the Denver game.
Kelce has enjoyed another productive campaign, recording 24 catches for 343 yards and two touchdowns across six games. He also had 71 receiving yards against Denver when the teams met in their season opener.
Kansas City will be keen to have him available as it looks to respond to the Seattle defeat and maintain its position at the top of the AFC West.
The Chiefs currently lead the division at 5-1, with Denver close behind at 5-2.
Kelce’s final injury designation will provide a clearer indication of his status for the matchup. He played through similar practice limitations against Seattle, but another setback would be a concern for Kansas City as the season progresses.
