Aquilani takes blame for Sassuolo’s collapse vs Roma: “The game was over before it started.”

Against Roma, Alberto Aquilani’s Sassuolo suffered their sixth defeat in seven games, increasingly at risk of dismissal after his team dropped to seventeenth place in the standings. After the match at the Olimpico, which saw the Neroverdi fall 3-0 to the Giallorossi, Aquilani spoke in the mixed zone to comment on the Emilian side’s performance. “In recent games the signal had been precisely that, namely that at the first difficulty we could give up in terms of focus and concentration. So it was something we struggled with, something that has certainly penalized us in these last four or five games. But let’s say that today wasn’t the problem of the match, but rather a series of factors.” “We need more quality. And so today it was a bit like that, you saw too little of everything, with the ball, without the ball, as an idea. It was a game of nothing. Probably a little more, even though Roma have nothing to do with us, we could have expected that.”
