JJ Redick gives updates on Cameron Carr and Adou Thiero
Yahoo Sports
Things are looking hopeful for the Los Angeles Lakers several days into the new NBA season. They have a 3-0 record, and they remained undefeated by overcoming an early 18-point deficit against the Utah Jazz on Sunday and coming away with a 132-123 victory .
A number of their new players have been performing well, and it is starting to look like perhaps they can and will become one of the league's best offensive teams. But they still have lots of room for growth and improvement, and one reason why is that two of their most promising young players haven't played a single minute yet in the regular season.
Second-year forward Adou Thiero and rookie guard Cameron Carr have been out of action due to knee swelling and a right oblique strain, respectively. On Sunday, Lakers coach JJ Redick said that both men remain day-to-day due to their ailments.
Neither player will have an easy time breaking into Redick's rotation, now that the Lakers have solid depth at the guard and wing spots. But Thiero has amazing athleticism, can get to the rim and is disruptive defensively, and Carr is very athletic himself and a potent offensive player who can make plays on the ball defensively.
If the Lakers are to win the NBA championship within the next couple of years, Thiero and Carr may have to play a significant role. Thiero barely played last season due to injury, and he has had knee issues dating back to his last season in college, when he suffered a serious left knee hyperextension.
