NFL star left hospitalized with emergency neurological issue as statement confirms no timeline for return

New England Patriots star TreVeyon Henderson has released a statement outlining a worrying health concern he has been dealing with. The 24-year-old has not featured as much as fans would have liked after emerging as a huge threat during the second half of last season as the Patriots reached the Super Bowl . He did not feature at all in the Patriots’ 24-19 win over Miami last Sunday having been ruled out through illness following just three carries in the Week 7 defeat to Chicago. “I will continue working closely with specialists and physical therapists to focus on my recovery, as these symptoms have affected my strength, coordination, and some of my physical functions,” Henderson said in a lengthy statement released on Friday. “I am committed to doing everything necessary to return to full health. “My health and long-term well-being remain my foremost priorities.” The 24-year-old was taken with the 38th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft after a starring role for Ohio State, and hopes were high of another strong season. However, Henderson has just 248 yards from scrimmage this season and is averaging less than four yards per carry on the ground. And the reasons behind his low usage have become clearer after a concerning statement released on Friday morning detailed his health concerns. The Patriots are yet to make a move on what happens to Henderson, but he could be placed on the Non Football Illness (NFI) list, but the transaction wire be the indication of what comes next. For now the team are continuing to support the 2025 National Champion, with head coach Mike Vrabel speaking at Friday’s media availability. “I know he is well-loved and respected on our football team,” he said. “My support shows up in a lot of different ways. Just trying to make sure that TreVeyon’s cared for and that the recovery plan is intact and he’s comfortable with it.” New England faces Green Bay on Saturday in Foxboro, with the game set to be a celebration of four-time Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski who will be inducted into the Pats Hall of Fame. After defeats in two of their opening three games, Vrabel’s squad have won four of their last five to move to 5-3 on the season. In Henderson’s absence New England will again lean on Rhamondre Stevenson to carry the rushing load with only Corey Kiner and Lan Larison on the depth chart. Mack Hollins is expected to be back on the gameday roster, having returned to practise this week after a month on Injured Reserve. However fellow receiver AJ Brown did not practise on Wednesday or Thursday as his stop-start beginning to life in New England continues.
