Kyle Walker may be forced to remove ‘four in a row’ tattoo if Man City stripped of titles
Kyle Walker joked one of his tattoos could be in danger if Manchester City are stripped of any league titles they won. The City legend co-hosted Wednesday’s talkSPORT Drive, where the topic turned to his former club’s ongoing appeal following their guilty verdict on all charges relating to Premier League financial rule breaches . The Premier League giants were adjudged to have artificially inflated their revenue by £900million via ‘sham’ contracts between 2009 and 2018. City have since challenged their guilty verdict , insisting they are backed by a ‘comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence’ . The club won eight trophies during the period in which they are alleged to have breached financial rules, including three league titles. It is not yet clear when and how exactly City will be punished if their appeal fails, with speculation they could be handed a huge points deduction that would ensure they spend multiple seasons in the Championship. Also among the possible sanctions touted is the club being stripped of their titles – which would directly affect Walker . The legendary full-back spent eight years at City from 2017 to 2025, winning 15 major trophies, including six Premier League titles. Four of these came in historic fashion, as Pep Guardiola ‘s side tasted consecutive league wins between the 2020/21 and 2023/24 seasons – a feat which no other Premier League side has ever achieved. Kyle Walker’s tattoo tales As Walker’s Premier League winners’ medals are at risk of being taken away, he revealed exclusively on talkSPORT that this could prove extra costly to him for one spectacular reason. That’s because the England great has the words ‘Four in a row’, tattooed on his leg. Asked about this by co-host Andy Goldstein , Walker confirmed: “[I’ve got] ‘four in a row’ tattooed.” Goldstein then probed: “If they take the medals away have you got a tattoo removal firm ready to take that one?” Laughing, England and Premier League great Walker replied: “Well I’m probably going to have to do that bit! “But you look at the likes of the great Man United squads [that won three in a row], and they never managed to get four in a row. “So there’s only a select few of us that can say that we’ve got four.” He later added: “I’ll try and keep it on, but hopefully we don’t get things taken away.” Walker frank on City case While Walker was able to see the funny side of City’s potential punishment, he spoke honestly about the club’s ongoing situation after launching their appeal. Asked how he felt about the situation now, he said: “It’s the big elephant in the room that we’re probably all going to be asked when we’re doing interviews or whatever we’re doing. “It doesn’t look great. Let’s not hide from the fact that they’ve been found guilty but they’re going through an appeal. “As a player all I can say is that all we did is go out and play our best football as a team and that I’ll defend the players for the rest of my life, because I feel that what we did and what we achieved in that space of time was probably incredible and probably won’t be done ever again. “But from the outside looking in, it doesn’t look great and we have to address that.” While Premier League clubs are keen for a punishment to be delivered as soon as possible, football financial expert Stefan Borson has warned there could be delays to this amid whispers the sanction hearing will run concurrently to the club’s appeal process.
