Fox puts Bob Uecker calls over Brewers playoff highlights in tribute
The Milwaukee Brewers finally won their first World Series, defeating the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 5 of the 2026 edition of the Fall Classic to clinch their first title. And even though Bob Uecker wasn’t there to call the final out, he was one of the first people on everyone’s minds. The legendary figure called Brewers games for over 50 years, starting all the way back in 1971 and working through the 2024 season. He passed away in January 2025 at the age of 90 after an incredible career as a player, announcer, actor, pitchman, comedian, and pop culture phenom. His love of the franchise,  humor, and personality were truly  one of a kind, as he starred everywhere from the broadcast booth to movies, sitcoms, commercials, and   The Tonight Show . Throughout this playoff run, there was the sense that this year’s Brewers team were doing it for their dedicated fanbase, but most of all in the memory of Bob Uecker. Manager Pat Murphy and the players paid tribute to Uecker after the victory, and Fox Sports did, too, with a unique tribute. And Fox lead announcer Joe Davis even paid tribute to Uecker by using one of his lines during a pivotal moment in Game 4. After the Brewers were victorious, Fox aired a montage of highlights from the postseason with calls from Uecker’s career played over them. It was a creative idea and a fitting tribute, as Brewers fans across the country likely imagined what the soundtrack would have been like with him still at the mic. Bob Uecker’s brilliance transcended generations in Milwaukee and beyond. Although the Brewers and their fans would have loved to have him here to be a part of the celebrations, they can rest assured that his memory and spirit inspired the team to a historic title.
