A post shared by LA Sports Report (@lasportsreport) Doncic shot the ball 30 times in the contest, converting 17 of his field goal attempts on the afternoon while hauling in eight rebounds and dishing 10 assists. Austin Reaves also had a strong showing for the Lakers, scoring 29 points. The Lakers struggled out of the gate, and could hardly get a stop against the Jazz to kick off the first quarter. The hosts scored 47 points to the Lakers’ 29 in the first quarter. The Lakers surged back in the second, though, as a 15-point quarter from Reaves gave them a three-point lead heading into the half. The game remained close throughout the entirety of the second half, but the Lakers finally pulled away from the Jazz with less than a minute left in the final quarter, as Reaves hit a three before Doncic sealed the deal with two free throws. Doncic and Reaves got plenty of help from their supporting cast in the win, as Matisse Thybulle, Ziaire WIlliams and Collin Sexton all recorded more than 10 points in the win. Walker Kessler played less of a role offensively, scoring just two points on two shots, but his presence on the glass made plenty of impact in the win. What Does The Lakers’ Win Mean For the Team? The Lakers improved to 3-0 on the season with their win, tying them for the top spot in the conference with the Houston Rockets. Things are far from over this NBA season, but if the Lakers can continue performing at this level for the remainder of the season, they’ll certainly be contenders for the NBA championship. They have the opportunity to further improve their stellar record on Tuesday, when they face off against the Portland Trailblazers—who are also yet to lose a game this season—at Cypto.com Arena on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. PT.
