Luka Doncic might not play against the Pistons on Sunday
Yahoo Sports
The Los Angeles Lakers will face one of their first real tests of this season when they visit the Detroit Pistons on Sunday to begin a four-game road trip. The Pistons have a 6-2 record and are first in the NBA in defensive rating, and they have a distinct identity as a team that is physical, gets after their opponents defensively and punishes opponents in transition offense.
The Lakers are 8-2 and are hoping to send a message that their record is no fluke. Unfortunately, they could be without their franchise player on Sunday, as Luka Doncic was added to their injury report. He's listed as questionable due to low back tightness.
Doncic is on a special run to start this season. He's averaging 40.1 points on 49.8% field-goal shooting, 41.9% from 3-point range and 87.3% from the free throw line, 7.8 rebounds, 7.7 assists and 1.7 steals a game, and he's starting to look like arguably the frontrunner for the MVP award. He scored 53 points in Friday's 124-118 win over the Portland Trail Blazers , giving him his second 50-plus-point outing of the new season, and it was his fourth straight game with at least 40 points.
The Lakers are currently on a four-game winning streak. They will play against the Atlanta Hawks on Monday, the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday and the Phoenix Suns next Sunday, Nov. 15.
