Three star Prattville linebacker flips commitment to Texas after visit

Yahoo Sports
Prattville linebacker Jason Crenshaw is taking his talents to the SEC. The three-star Class of 2027 prospect announced Thursday that he has flipped his commitment from Georgia Tech to Texas, giving the Longhorns another addition to their recruiting class. Crenshaw had been committed to Georgia Tech since June, but saw his recruitment take a turn after receiving an offer from Texas in September. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker took an official visit to Austin on Oct. 24 for the Longhorns' matchup against Ole Miss. The visit ultimately helped Texas win the recruiting battle. Texas defensive coordinator Will Muschamp and linebackers coach Johnny Nansen played significant roles in his recruitment. Crenshaw said he was impressed by the program's culture, attention to detail and how the coaching staff envisioned using his versatility on defense. Crenshaw has been a major contributor for Prattville this season. Through the first half of the season, he had recorded 31 tackles, 19 tackles for loss and eight sacks while also contributing offensively as a Wildcat quarterback with four rushing touchdowns. The Longhorns now add one of Alabama's rising defensive prospects to their 2027 recruiting class.
