An altercation at training led to Jordan Elliott’s release just before the Tennessee Titans secured their first win of the season.
The Titans snapped their 0-5 start with a surprise 26-20 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, in which Elliott did not feature.
Tennessee announced that they had released the defensive tackle on Tuesday, releasing a statement on the matter.
“On Thursday, October 15th, there was an incident at our team facility involving Jordan Elliott,” the statement read.
“Following our review of the incident, we have made the decision to release Elliott from our roster. We will have no further comment on the matter.”
A new report from A to Z Sports’ Austin Stanley and Easton Freeze has shed light on what happened last Thursday.
Elliott reportedly went for firearm during argument
“Per sources to A to Z Sports, Elliott had grown frustrated with a Titans teammate on the practice field Thursday, Oct 15,” the report read.
“On its own, that didn’t raise any red flags for those in attendance. Practice fights happen across the NFL every week.
“Especially between offensive and defensive linemen who spend every rep in each other’s face.
“Sources say Elliott was seen storming out of the locker room upset.”
“According to multiple sources, Elliott then went to the players’ parking garage next to the facility, to retrieve a firearm from his vehicle.
“The situation was de-escalated before there was any altercation involving the firearm.
“The Metro Nashville Police Department told A to Z Sports via phone call Tuesday afternoon that no reports had been filed, nor had any contact been made by the team in connection with the incident.”
Elliott released amid first season with Titans
It was Elliott’s first season with the Titans after signing a two-year, $8 million contract in the offseason.
He was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the third round of the 2020 Draft, and spent the first four seasons of his career there.
He then signed a two-year, $7m contract with the San Francisco 49ers , appearing in 31 games and collecting 50 tackles.
He then followed Robert Saleh to the Titans , where he had posted 11 tackles in five appearances.
