Unai Emery furiously stares down reporter in explosive chat after Aston Villa collapse
Unai Emery was involved in a tense exchange with a reporter following Aston Villa’s draw with Manchester United. Villa twice let a two-goal lead slip at Old Trafford on Sunday as the bonkers match finished 4-4 between to the two sides. Emery was visibly furious on the touchline following Patrick Dorgu’s 96th minute equaliser, the second goal United scored in stoppage time. The Spaniard subsequently stormed down the tunnel prior to the full-time whistle. Emery clashes with reporter Following the match, he was asked about his reaction during an interview with Sky Sports reporter Patrick Davison. Tensions remained high for Emery, who sarcastically asked: “More questions?” upon being probed about his antics. Emery hit back: “No, not emotions. They scored in the minute 96 and there were six minutes added. I thought the match was finishing.” The reporter then asked if Emery thought Dorgu’s goal was unfair, to which he added: “No, not unfair, please.” An intense stare from Emery towards Davison followed before he continued: “They scored in the minute 96. “You were making the question, I left before, because it was the minute 96 and 30 seconds when we started again (with) the kick-off.” Emery then asked: “Is it clear or not?” to which the reporter admitted: “You’ve explained it.” The exasperated Villa boss reacted by rolling his eyes and throwing his arms in the air. He added: “Thank you, thank you very much. More questions? Okay, thank you, have a good Sunday,” before walking away. Villa’s late collapse had seen them concede twice in four minutes during added time. It came after their earlier two-goal lead had been wiped out before half time. Their advantage was later restored but they threw it away again. As a result, they are the first team to fail to win a Premier League match in which they have twice been two goals ahead since April 2023. Emery’s post-match reaction During his post-match press conference, Emery explained: “Angry, of course. To accept to lose in the last minutes two goals, it is difficult. “I am angry for the situation, not with the players. We lost the opportunity to have two points more.” He added: “They did the same here against Roma with the supporters pushing, they were playing with heart. “The last moments when we were close to finishing the match, with Dorgu left side, we couldn’t defend him good. “The last corner we were focusing on the adaptation, protecting them to try to avoid the block. “Zion [Suzuki] is going to improve, adapting to the Premier League, but during the process we conceded one more, but Zion is very fantastic how he is performing.”
